Saying “yes” to time with Jesus is saying “yes” to my marriage

A daily “yes” to time in the word is a daily “yes” to my marriage. It’s a “yes” to the output of work in my career. It’s a “yes” to my friendships. It’s a “yes” to my mental health.

So often, it is easy to push aside daily devotion time & time spent in prayer to do something else. It is easy to view that time as a chore on our to-do list.

Time in the word and in prayer is a necessity for our relationship with Christ. It is something that we train ourselves to thirst for more.

But not only is it a necessity for our relationship with Christ, it is also a necessity for our relationships here on Earth.

I know for a fact that my marriage is healthier when my husband and I keep ourselves in the word and in prayer. In the times we are away or slip and miss this time, we can tell by the way we treat one another, the hostility over the dumbest things, and the attitudes we have with one another.

Time in the word and time in prayer is essential. It is essential for growing closer to the Lord. It is essential to leading a lifestyle pleasing to Him. It is essential to a healthy and lasting marriage. It is essential for living a joy-filled life.

Let us choose time in the word and time in prayer over “just one more episode” or other excuses that can be thrown up.

Let us learn the importance of this daily devotion to our Savior.
