Demons, Satan, Hell. It all seems to be a taboo subject now a days. It’s like the subject people avoid in the community and often in the church because beliefs are all over the fence about it.
But let’s be real, it is all a reality. It’s avoided because of fear, of awkward conversations, and truthfully because of the reality of it.
However, for anyone who has ever dealt with spiritual warfare, you know the reality of Satan’s powers. On the other hand, you also know the reality that God’s power is far greater and far stronger.
What is Spiritual Warfare?
Spiritual warfare is a fight of not flesh and blood, but of spirit. It is a fight against the devil and his schemes. Spiritual warfare is the devil’s way of acting on your life to put fear in your life, to try and tear your life apart, and to try and tear you away from the Lord.
How does spiritual warfare work?
Spiritual warfare comes in many forms and for various reasons. For me personally, it came in the form of seeing. I could see Satan’s demons EVERYWHERE. In the dark of night, they were everywhere. With my eyes open or closed, they were there. In the shadows of the hall, they were there. I could see them and they were real. It comes in many forms, for me this is how it came. Not to undermine it, that is only an overview, but for sake of time and detail we will keep it short. For others, it comes in forms of tearing apart a marriage. It may come in tearing apart a career or a family. It may come in tragedy after tragedy trying to break you down. It may come because Satan does not want to see the work of the Lord completed. These are merely schemes. Keep your eyes set above.
How do you fight spiritual warfare?
You claim the name of Jesus, because evil cannot prevail in HIS presence. This is so important and should not be undervalued. Demons can LITERALLY not stand in the presence of our Lord. Turn on that Jesus music, pray and pray some more, and when you have no more words to pray say “Jesus” over and over and over again. Watch the demons flee. Never give up. (1 Corinthians 15:57) No matter what it is, call on the Lord for strength. He will see you through the situation. Believe in Him to help you prevail. Bind those demons in the name of Jesus. Declare them band from your house. Band them from your life. Don’t be afraid to speak. Don’t be afraid to yell. Don’t be afraid. (Luke 10:19) They are real, it is real, but they are only as powerful as you allow them to be. The name of the Lord is far more powerful than any other thing, spirit, or human. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
Is it my fought?
I often don’t know why believers have to deal with spiritual warfare. But I do know that the devil is on the prowl (1 Peter 5:8-9) waiting to ensnare us in his grip, to ring us dry of our love for the Lord. I also know that we can invite Satan and his powers into our homes by doing certain things. Activities such as watching scary movies invites the devils works into our homes, into our minds, and our spirits. How? Think about it, you are literally watching demons at work in those movies. Music. The same reasoning, what are you listening too? Is it of the Lord or is it of the world? Choose to allow the atmosphere of your home and your mind to be an atmosphere where the Lord is welcome.
By posting this blog, I am being incredibly vulnerable with sharing my story. I have only ever shared my story with a select few who have heard it as a testimony or have helped get me through the period of time in my life that I dealt with spiritual warfare and the extreme fear that accompanied it (I still declare each new home I live in free of Satan and his demons in the name of Jesus). I am open to discussion about the subject if you are interested in a greater understanding. I am not a genius in the matter, but I understand enough and am willing to dig as deep as you prefer to help you grasp the subject because I do believe that it is important to understand for not only yourself, but for the people you encounter. Whether your family, your friends, your spouse, or people you may have a chance to form a relationship with later on, it is so important to understand the world we live in and the power Christ gives us to fight our battles.
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Eph. 6:11-17
