We spend our lives dreaming of our prince charming. We imagine the perfect looks, the best dates, and even our dream wedding from a young age. Right?
As a kid it is fun and games doing such things, dress up in your best princess dress and walk down the long beautiful aisle known as the hallway of your home to your Barbie Ken doll, known as your husband. Or maybe you were like me as a kid, and thought to best impress that cute boy that sits beside you in your elementary classes you should be able to bat the ball the furthest, or score a home run on the kickball field while getting all of your teammates back to base too. Score, right?! Did he notice how awesome that was? And all the girls giggle as they peek over at your crush.
As we grow older, our liking of guys becomes stronger. We find the urge in ourselves to seek out the right guy. This is where I would like for us to pause. Let’s pause these thoughts and emotions and focus them on the one who will make our lives beautiful before we allow ourselves to enter heartbreak.
Ladies, the right guy will pursue you. You do not have a need to pursue a guy, it is simply not your job. Know this and ingrain it in your brain. God created men to be the pursuers. Each person may have a different waiting period for their prince charming or cowboy to come along. Every life is not the same and that is why we are so unique.
In this waiting period for your prince charming, I learned (the hard way at that, stubborn I know) that if you take your focus and place it on God, then he will bring the right man to you. The man that God has specially created for you will not be able to find you if your heart is not focused on God. God wants to give you the waiting time to grow closer to Him and to make sure that your heart is prepared to take on life alongside another person. The same for the guy. God has to prepare his heart to lead you and guide you and be of companion to you before he can allow you to enter this guys life. So, be thankful for this waiting period. God is telling you, my sweet daughter, I want this relationship to be placed right beneath me within your heart, so I need to mold you both into the forms that you will be ready to take on all that comes with a relationship.
It is not always an easy task to make yourself wind down and focus, but girl I tell you, it is so worthwhile. In those quiet lonely times, find a friend in Jesus. Bask in His presence and allow it to wash over you. My prayer for a few years now has been, “God turn me into a Proverbs 31 woman. Mold my heart, speak through me, use me for your glory.” Ladies, God created women for a special purpose. We are to be a helper to our men. In order to be just that, we have to be prepared for this lifestyle. It may not always be easy, but because God created this, it is most definitely possible.
I promise that if you shift your focus from “I need to look cute so he will notice me” to “I need to dig into the word and spend some time with Jesus” your lifestyle and mindset will radically change. You will have an unquestionable peace fall over you and your life.
One day that man will come along, and when he does you will not have one question of if he is the right one. Your heavenly father has gave you his blessing on being with that man because he is the man created just for you. Now, your dreams will become reality. You can go on those fun dates that you’ve always imagined. You will be pursued every single day for the rest of your life. You will walk down the aisle, but this time probably not the hallway of your childhood home and not towards your Ken doll.
This, my dear friends is a part of life that is so incredibly beautiful. I pray that each and every one of you will be able to focus on God, your heavenly father, and one day at the special time allotted just for the two of you, have the right man walk into your life.
I promise, it is worth the wait.
‘Who can find a capable wife? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will not lack anything good. Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom and loving instruction is on her tongue. “Many women are capable, but you surpass them all! ” Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.’ Proverbs 31:10-11,25-26,29-30
