It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we often forget to just slow down and talk to Jesus. What would happen to our relationships if we forgot to talk to our boyfriend/girlfriend, friends, family, etc.? Most likely one would feel kind of distant from that person.
Distance is only created by you. Jesus never leaves us. He is within a simple “Hey pal!!” whenever you want him!!
–> Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Sometimes I get so caught up in the rush of school, finals, or even just my social life that I often forget to take time for my Jesus, the one who gave me my life. I feel bad saying that, but it’s honest and reality. When those times come when I start slacking on my communication skills with Jesus, that’s when I become more stressed, and more anxious about life. Then it hits me, Jesus. I need Jesus. Like how did I forget to spend time with Him today? I stop absolutely everything I am doing and just talk to Him. There is no better listener, no better best friend, no better dad, no better anything. He is the definition of perfection in every category. When I slow down and spend that time with Him it puts my mind and body so much more at ease and at peace. It’s like a wave of calm crashing over a storm. It reminds me of the story when Jesus is asleep on the on the boat and his disciples came to him in such a tizzy because it was storming so badly. All he did was tell the storm to calm down and it did immediately.
I find that so similar to life and all the different crazies of life. I can stress so so much seeing everything around me as overwhelming and the moment I think about my Jesus and how big He is, how he conquers every storm (stressor), or how He always brings me through any “rough” time. I am the storm that is calmed at the mention of His name.
A simple “Jesus” is so soothing and reassuring to my soul. A prayer is so intimate and brings me so much closer to Him. Reading His words teaches so much knowledge.
I love that in America we can freely worship! We are truly privileged to have the opportunity to worship our God without getting beaten, killed, thrown in prison, etc. It most definitely is not something that should be taken for granted.
Take home point: When feeling so distant from Jesus, when wondering if you pushed Him away, when wanting to feel His presence ever so badly, say His name. Say “Jesus.” He is there waiting for you to reach out to Him!! Cool, right!?!?
–> Deuteronomy 4:29 “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul”
Make room for Jesus in your day to day life!!
(I promise it is oh so worth it 🙂 )
